Hey guys !!

i bought kingston usb 3.0 16gb DTIG4 in februray.
i used it on my usb 2.0 port and copy fles, my write speed starts from 20mbps. and it remains there constant, i copied 2gb in approx 1min 30sec. i was so amazed.

today i bought DTIG4 64gb usb kingston 3.0. and copied a single file , and i got disapppointed as my speed was from 8.8 to 11.1 MBPS. it was keeping going up and down in this range. and took 4min 40sec to copy 2gb ..

why is that so???

as both the models are same.

why im getting such an amazing speed in my 16gb usb??

i used the same files, same port 2.0 to both usbs. but im getting 20mbps constant in 16gb and 10 average in my 64gb..

please help me figure out this problem..

all i detected is my 16gb assembled in china and 64gb in taiwan.

Hi, I'm Jewel with Kingston Technical Support. The issue may be related to to formatting of the drive. We format all drives to FAT32 for cross-platform compatibility. If you use Windows 7 and later or Mac OS 10.6 and later you can reformat the drive to exFAT which is more optimal for capacities greater that 32GB. I have had other users report this to increase transfer speeds. Although, the DTIG4 flash drive is an entry-level USB 3.0 drive with an expected transfer rate of about 10MB/s. If the drive is not performing properly or appears to be inconsistent with it's specifications, it can be replaced under it's 5 year warranty. For further assistance, please call us at 1-800-435-0640 (USA and Canada only) M - F 6am - 6pm PT and I or...

Thanks for your reply. I went to format this usb. But there are only two options coming in this usb. Fat32 and ntfs. Currently i have done a complete full ntfs format. But the performance is same. On the contrary, my dtig4 16gb has exfat, fat32 and ntfs format options. I can show you the proves that I'm getting constant stream of 20mbps write speed in it on usb 2.0 port.
Im using Windows 8.1 pro 64bit, gigabyte h61m-ds2 motherboard.
