I am building my own PC and cannot decide between Windows 7 or 8.1. I originally was going to stick with Windows 7 but cannot seem to find a retailer that still has it in stock. I wonder if its worth taking the step forward (or backward) and finally trying Windows 8.1. If at all possible could someone tell me the differences between Windows 8 and 8.1 are? Thanks in advanced.

With custom build PC for home/gaming use I would get an W7Pro OEM, with Retails you get technical support from MS but rarely alot of user are going for their support. Save some money on extra RAM/HDD.

I use windows 8.1 for gaming just fine. Its able to handle 4k even. I never really use the metro part of windows 8, so really if you ignore it they are mostly the same, you just have to get used to it.
