Hello, Tom'sHardware . . . -ians?

Anyway. I'm using a TP-LINK TL-WR740N 150Mbps Wireless N Router, and I've noticed a very peculiar problem.

I've been using this router for months now, but a few days ago I noticed that, as the title says, its wireless network has a much slower speed than its wired network.

What I mean is, on Speedtest, the desktop PC which is wired to it via an ethernet cable shows the connection speed I'm paying for. But on my laptop, which connects wirelessly, the speed is maybe half of what it should be.

This is not a "range" problem. I know because I checked; I stood a few feet away from the router and Speedtested my laptop - the same, reduced, speed.

And it's not a problem with my laptop. I know because I connected the ethernet cable to my laptop directly and Speedtested - voila, full speed.

Now, here's the "peculiar" part. Rebooting the router fixes the issue. For all of ten minutes.
Well, maybe not exactly ten minutes - it's anywhere from five to fifteen minutes.
As soon as I reboot, a Speedtest on my laptop shows full speed, but ten or so minutes later, it drops back down to half.

Folks, I am not so thick-headed you could hit me in the face with a tire iron and I won’t yell till morning. But I am as confused as a goat on AstroTurf here. What is happening? And how do I fix this permanently?

UPDATE: Oh! Perhaps it's worthy of note that only the Download Speed is affected by whatever problem this is; the Upload Speed is "full", wired or wireless.
