Recently purchased a 128gb 840 pro and ran the Samsung Magician benchmark. According to the specs sheet it's supposed to have 530 mb/s read and 390 mb/s write, but my benchmark shows 981 mb/s read and 991 mb/s write consistently, how is this possible?

You probably have RAPID mode enabled. It uses your RAM as a cache for the SSD, giving higher speeds. My 840 EVO shows speeds of 2000 MB/s with the cache on my 2400MHz RAM.

Oh really? That makes sense then, best to leave rapid mode enabled I assume

You probably won't notice the difference if RAPID is enabled or not, the speed without it enabled is still more than fast enough.
