I got a new laptop, Asus X550LB, installed fresh windows 8.1, updated them, downloaded all the drivers (device manager doesn't show any unknown devices), but I had a problem. Whenever my computer goes to sleep mode (closing him up or manually enter sleep mode, doesn't matter) and wakes up, it starts to work very slow, all programs (windows explorer, skype, any browser etc.) going not responding if you try to do something with them. Tried to do sfc scan, everything were alright, re installed vga drivers, but nothing changes. After restart it works fine again, until turning to sleep and when waking up. Looking anything what can I do, thanks.

Win 8 is already fast. No need for sleep mode. Turn it off. It's enabled by default on win 8

I'm having the same problem with my Asus X550LB.Becaue of this and limited connectivity problems I installed good old win 7 ultimate. I thought the OS was reponsible but same problem still occurs. When booting for the first start up laptop freezes, no action can be done, after restart it works just fine, fastest it could be. I don't know is it BIOS or hardware but definitel not OS. There is something wrong with these Asus X550's and i couldn't figure out. Please help.

I had the same issue on a brand new Acer V3-371. After changing the power plan to "high performance" the problem went away. I changed most of the advance setting back to the same level as under the "balanced plan" and the laptop still works the same after it has been into sleep mode. Would be interesting to know the reason, but at least it is a workaround that worked for me.

As a caveat to my previous post the "high performance" power plan only resolved the issue as long as the power is plugged in. As soon as it runs on battery it starts hanging again. As it is a brand new laptop, it will go back to the shop...
