I've changed the directory values of program files to my wanted drives in the registry. Everything is working apart from when the program installs and puts the shortcut on the desktop, I get the:

'The specified path does not exist, check the path then try again'

I can fix it by going into the shortcut properties and changing the location but the whole point of changing the default location in the first place was to save time so it would be easier just to revert back.

So is there anyway to make sure the shortcut to the program is actually linked to where it exists rather than windows just assuming it's on the C drive.

Solution
The programs you want to install know nothing about the changes you've made in the Registry.
So if you simply click "Install", the C drive will be chosen as the install path.

When you install anything, select "custom install" and change "C" in the installation path to your preferred drive.
The paths in the created shortcuts should then be correct.
