I just bought a new r9 280 graphics card and now all the games i play freeze after like 3 mins of gameplay, i lowered the graphics and it still freezes. I reinstalled my 6670 and the freezes stopped. I thought it was the ram but i ran memtest through 4 passes and I tried windows memory diagnostic test and passed so i guess i can rule that out. The only thing i can think of is maybe my cpu can't handle the card. I also have a r9 270 and if i use that i'll get blue screen of death saying either service exception or memory management. I tried researching myself but can't seem to find a cause. Here's my specs:

AMD FX 4-Core Black Edition FX-4300
PNY Optima 8 GB PC3-10666 1333 MHz DDR3 Desktop DIMM Memory
Motherboard GA-78LMT-USB3
MSI AMD Radeon R9 280, 3GB GDDR5
Western Digital Caviar Blue 500 GB SATA III 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache
Corsair Builder Series CX 500 Watt ATX/EPS 80 PLUS

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

And one more thing, if nothing else helps, try testing your PSU in a similarly power-hungry system or testing a more powerful PSU in your system.

Sounds like a driver issue. Uninstall amd drivers then remove them completely using Driver Sweeper or equivalent then install the r9 280 and install latest (14.4) drivers. If this fails repeat the process as amd drivers are known to cause problems.
