No drives found error! in windows7 installer

So one of my friends gave me his old laptop and i just decided to put it to use one day. I went to install windows7 and there were no partitions to choose from. I also had an error saying i needed Drives.
ive tried the Cmd Disk part but when i enter List Disk none show up.
Not sure what to do. my knowledge on computers is small. any solutions?

First check and see if there is a hard drive.
Remove the back and see if there is even one installed.
If there is no HDD/SSD you need to install one.

What kind of laptop it is? If the hard drive is there you may need the SATA drivers.

A SATA driver at POST? Make sure the MOB is set to ACHI.
Try updating the CMOS/BIOS.

Well if its an older laptop W7 should have drivers no issue, but you never know.

Yeah! You never know with some computers you have to have a driver for everything.
Like the headache MAC.

I do not know why people use Macs.
I will stick with PCs for life.
