Hello everyone, first time building a somewhat gaming pc
About 4 days ago, I have built my very first pc with very minimal research. I know the parts needed to make a pc run, not specifically about each component. So as a result, my power supply did not have enough wattage and power to run my pc. I just bought what seemed cheap and thought I could run a somewhat high end graphics card (my mistake), cpu, etc. Not knowing that at the time, what happened was that I turned on the pc for the first two times, my fans all lit up and spun for a second and everything then turned off. After the third time I powered it on, I saw a tiny spark coming from the motherboard of some sort. From there on, I unplugged everything and my graphics card. I turned it back on and everything seemed to be running, however, my monitor did not detect a signal coming from my pc so I figured it was the power supply that damaged my motherboard. Could it be that my RAM is also damaged? My CPU perhaps? My Graphics card? My wireless adapter? I checked every part for damages, there seems to be no marks.
So far I have concluded that my power supply was way too weak to run my system, my motherboard is fried because it won't even boot up.
I decided to go to best buy and saw a Thermaltake power supply 600w, so I bought it and also bought an MSI A88X-G45 GAMING FM2+ / FM2 AMD A88X (Bolton D4) HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard.
Question is, what do I do now? Should I use my new parts and replace the old ones? I know that my PSU is enough to run the pc now.
