PLEASE HELP New build wont connect to screen

my new build that i have just assembled wont power on my screen
the screen works as used it on my laptop
when I power my pc on all the fans start spinning but the screen wont light up so i cant get to the bios

Did you plug in the 4 pin power cord that goes to the motherboard by the processor?
Did you get the video card all the way into the slot? (I did that on my first build. One end of the card wasn't all the way in the slot.)
Did you get power to the video card?

If all of those work, you could try taking out the video card and using the onboard video long enough to boot it up and make sure everything else is working. Once you have verified that then more troubleshooting with the video card could be in order.

Are you using the same port on the video card every time you turn it on? If you have 2 DVI ports for example try using the other one.

Also make sure that you have the monitor looking on the right input. If you were using VGA for the integrated video but are now using a DVI port you need to switch that on the monitor.
