I'm getting decent fps while on high setting(45-60) but as soon as i start recording with fraps my fps drops down to like 10fps. When not recording gpu max usage is 60% and cpu around 70%.
When googling for solution i see lots of tips that i have already set as recommended.
I guess it's just badly optimized?

Rig is:

FX6300@ 4.3GHZ
HD7850
8GB Ballistix sport
I'm recording to same hdd which the game is being run from. I also tried to record to ssd but it didn't make any difference.

Anyone experiencing same problem?

Solution

Ah! Anyway!
I think there is some driver problem because AMD well known with their problem friendly drivers.

Tried to record to HDD and SSD both, nothing changed. There has to be a bug, because there's no way an FX-6300 even oc-ed can't run this game. I also tried to set game's cpu affinity to 4 cores(while playing) and record with first 2 cores. But as soon as i turn off 2 cores game crashes. When permanently changing affinity to 4 cores and launching the game i only get like 1 frame per 10 seconds maybe.

Fraps usually eats a lot of GPU power so if you had 45 FPS, you'll have 10 like you said because Fraps catches and records in background.
Fraps is not like "Shadowplay" which decreases FPS really low.
Your best solution is just buy additional capture card.

GPU? I believe you meant CPU? Because fraps uses cpu to render or smth like that. I know it's not the hardware because i can record and play every game from like old GTA San to most recent Watch Dogs. I wouldn't be suprised when i had this problem with Crysis 3 cuz it's really demanding game, but Wolfenstein is nothing compared to it.(IMO and according to requirements)

Wolfenstein NO uses heavily modified OpenGL rendering. A lot of recording software have serious issues recording it, for instance Dxtory is not even recognizing it for many people and for others works at extremely poor quality (similar to what you are describing).

I too think it's optimization issue. Specifically Dxtory will receive an update in June that hopefully with solve the issue and more updates will come from GPU drivers and game patches. You could try recording with Open Broadcaster Software (Free), it showed me more or less acceptable performance.
