I've been searching and have found no good answer on how to move only the OS from my old HDD to my new SSD. I have downloaded several softwares which claim they do so, however all they do is move pretty much everything that is on the HDD to the SSD, all the programs, the documents, etc. Is it not as simple as copying the Windows folder and pasting it into the new drive, and then booting from this new drive?

You cant copy just the OS from the hdd to ssd only option is to clone your hdd which means that everything will be cloned, but I suggest just to do new OS install into the ssd since with new OS there is no obsolete data and garbage, and the ssd can show his full potential. Copy only the important data and thats it.
