[OVERCLOCKING] GPU ist getting >90 degrees but FAN-Speed ist only 70%

Heyho community,

I want to overclock my VTX3D 7950 X-Edition v3 Boost 3GB.
The default settings are:

Power limit settings: 0%
GPU clock settings: 925 MHz
High Performance memory clock settings: 1250 MHz

Then I searched for some OC-settings and changed it to:

Power limit settings: 20%
GPU clock settings: 1100 MHz
High Performance memory clock settings: 1550 MHz

To test the settings I ran FurMark with my Resolution to see if it is overheating. I stopped the test when the GPU-Temp went over 90 °C with a fan-speed of only 70%. What am I doing wrong?

What program are you using for overclock the GPU? Check the fan settings.

Only the Catalyst Control Center. I could change the Fan settings but it is too loud if it runs 24/7 on 90-100%

Uninstall that and install MSI Afterburner, in the settings options go to the tab fan and create a fan profile, the idea is that your fan run at full speed on max overclock to keep the temps the most low as possible.

As saint said,MSI Afterburner is superior for controlling fanspeeds and clocks!

Here's my custom fan curve.This stops my temps from going over ~70c without my fans going over 55%. Though recently my temps havent gone over 66c.

Thanks working fine with Afterburner. Got the OC Settings running now and tested it with FurMark after 20mins the temperature was between 68-69°C. Then I played Thief and after 10mins of playing the Game froze and crashed, then I played DayZ and after 10mins the game sent me back to desktop but was still running I could hear the sound but I was unable to get back into the game. To fix this I had to set the gpu settings to default.

That means too high settings, rise up only one at time and test for stability. Do no be afraid of rise up the voltage, at this level, is almost impossible that you kill the GPU rising voltage with Afterburner.
