I just got a Radeon HD 4850 512 MB. I installed it and it was great, I am on a budget but this card was considered premium for my game once upon a time and is still good. I love the card.
The problem is that when I use any software that lets you tweak the fan speed or the like it crashes (Even if i don't change anything) so i stopped running the software. All was good. Now I find out that this happens when the computer goes into sleep mode,
My deductive reasoning is anytime the hardware has a communication of that nature it crashes.
What happens is the card stops working - in it tuns off (fan goes off) and back on again (about 1 second). windows give me a graphics card error then it comes back on as recovered -the screen will blink (card is going on and off) 'til it finally crashes windows.
Someone suggested it was the power supply, but my Dell Precision 690 has 750 W power supply.
