ok so iv realised that i cant possibly overclock with this motherboard that i bought quite a while back. iv started getting into rendering videos for youtube. but my renders times are really slow. for example a basic 45 minute video takes 1 hour 45 minutes to render. my cpu is at the stock 4 ghz. If i get a better motherboard to overclock with would i see much gain? i want to hold out before i change to intel because of the price and not a great performance boost for the amount il be paying. what should i dooooooooo?

Windows 7 64 bit
AMD FX 8350 4 GHZ
EVGA GTX 780 SC ACX 3GB
2 X 8GB 1600 mhz corsair vengence
120 GB SSD for OS
500 GB SATA for games
External hardrive that i record to 3 TB usb 3.0
MSI 970A-G46 Motherboard
2 monitors
EVGA superNOVA G2 1300W GOLD
Corsair H60 CPU Cooler

What software are you using and how many effects edited into your video? Is it well threaded in that it can use all 8 cores?

This will have a big impact.

no effects, only 3 audio tracks and 1 video track. my cpu is around 93% right now as its rendering. 38 minute video is going to take around 1 hour 30 minutes. im using sony vegas :(

Do NOT overclock on an MSI 970A-G46. The board's VRMs cannot handle it, and will blow at some point.

dw i wont i realised that so instead i think ima change to a Asus M5A97 Evo R2.0 AMD 970 to get me by untill i change to intel in the future, i really do think theres something wrong with my cpu :(  a guy on fb shows a video of his fx 8350 at 4.3 ghz renderirng a 3 30 min video in 2 and a half minutes.mine takes double the video length wtf :S

There is likely nothing wrong with your CPU. Get an Asus M5A99X instead; they are awesome overclocking boards. Just look at my signature. And its very easy and reliable.
