Can i CF a Sapphire Dual-X Radeon R9 270X 4gb and a Sapphire Dual-X Radeon R9 270X 2gb

I got a Sapphire Dual-X Radeon R9 270X 4gb and i was wondering if i was going to CF would i have to get another 4gb of this card or would the 2gb one work?

Of course u can, that would sum to a total of 6gb Vram(that's unnecessary unless you are gaming on two monitors)

Yes you can but the 6gb card will only have 2gb out of the six usable because it will run like that to match the other cards settings.

You mean, the 4gb would downgrade to a 2gb ,right? that would sum to a total of 4gb.

Yes the extra GB on the 6GB card will be completely wasted.I would not recommend you buy a 2GB card if you plan to Crossfire it with a 6GB card.

Yes sorry about saying 6gb instead of 4gb. With another 4gb card you will not loose 2gb when you crossfire having the full potential of you crossfire setup.

i cant see how you would lose ram ??? just make sure you put the 4gb version in the pcie slot closest to cpu ??

It means that each GPU will use the amount of RAM the card with the least amount of RAM has one it. Two 2gb cards will use 2gb per GPU. If you have something like a 512mb 4870 and a 1gb 4870, each gpu will use 512mb. If you have say a 1.5gb card and a 3gb card, both GPUs will use 1.5gb of RAM. If you have two 3gb cards, the GPUs will use 3gb apeice. That's the rules AMD made for crossfire so their cards can work together equally with no conflicts between Gpu's in crossfire there drivers send equal load to your crossfire setup based on the weaker card so buying equal cards gets you the best out of your setup and scale better than none equal cards.It can't send use 2gb on card one and 1gb on card two they never wrote the crossfire drivers to work that way.
