Connection Dropping Constantly

So, for the longest time I have been having connection drops. Basically, two-three times a day my connection will drop from my router. When I look at the networks, it shows my network and shows it has 5 bars even though it shows I have no connection. After about 1-2 minutes the connection will re-connect and everything is fine.

I have good speeds when it is working, its just annoying to have it drop at when I am playing games or doing work online. I am really at a loss for what could be causing this. Any tips or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Specs:

Router: Scientific Atlanta DPC2203
Modem: Linksys AC 1750
Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-V PRO
Power Supply: Corsair CX750M
Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

ISP: Time Warner Cable w/ Cable Internet
Connections: 2 desktop PCs (sometimes a smart phone too)
Error Messages: None

On your 2.4GHz network, the item second from bottom is set to Auto. I believe this is what Philip was referring to. Try manually assigning a channel there. If you live in a congested area a program like inSSIDer may help locate a channel with the least interference, or at least one which has fewest users.

Phillip, thanks for the reply.

You must forgive me for being a little new to network issues and fixing them. I am not 100% sure what you mean by the channel. I believe it may have to do with the second image? If so, what should I change exactly.

I have attached two pictures to maybe help explain my situation and how things are setup.

So based on Philip's suggestion, I should choose to set the 2.4 network to channel 11?

Just as a further note, I live in a rather rural area, my wireless picks up a total of 4 networks, 1 of which is mine.

There's no stock answer to which channel is best. If you don't know what channels your neighbours are using then just try them all. Sometimes it's not necessarily the strongest signal which works best and the client has a role to play. My iPhone 4 refused to work wirelessly until I set my router to channel 1, for some reason, even though 6 had the least interference!

There's a good article below which explains how to select a channel. For best results you are advised to try channels 1, 6 and 11.
