SSD Partition Alignment

I have a 480Gb SSD and want to create 2 partitions (one OS-win7pro; one for data) I'm used to having a PART size of 70Gb on a HDD for win7. I would like to know how to align the PART sizes before I install win7 so I don't have to use 3rd party software afterwards. Can you advise on SSD Partition Alignment and how to do prior to installing OS?

I recommend everyone that has multiple HDD's and/or SSD's to get the program minitool partition wizard. It has an alignment tool included in it. It's also exellent for creating partitions and wiping drives. And the best part is, it's completely free! Here's a link to download it.

Thanks- I have used Minitool before but didn't realise it has an alignment tool. I will investigate.

Hi

If this is a new SSD and a fresh install of windows 7 or 8 the partitions should be aligned to take account of new 4k sectors instead of old 0.5k (512B) sectors

The problems arise with XP (can't remember about vista)
