I'm working on my first build and I was confused between couple of Z87 mobos, but then a fellow member here suggested sticking with a Z97, and it does make sense for future upgradability, so I'm looking for a Z97 mobo that doesn't break my budget of MAX 150$, I found these while searching around:
1. ASUS Z97-A
2. Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H
3. Gigabyte GA-Z97X-GAMING 3
though recommendation for any other mobo would be appreciated.

Solution
I'd go the Asus without a doubt, the Z87 version was a great mobo, Asus seemed to have the best mobos for Haswell on the Z87, and they have improved them going into the Z97 mobo, I have the Hero in both Z87 and Z97 (both running 4770Ks at the moment while waiting for the release of the Devil's Canyon K models for the Z(& mobo.....did a number of builds on the Z87 A and it was great, so only follows the Z97 will be also

I ultimately chose the Gigabyte Z97MX - Gaming 5 as my platform. The reasons why are the board features M.2 and an internal SataExpress which gives me the option for faster peripherals in the future (One of only a very few boards to have), SLI/Crossfire capable, MiniATX, Intel’s 9 Series chipset, overclocking capabilities (if I chose to explore that route) and there are plenty of USB 2.0 and 3.0 inputs. In the end, it gives me all my requirements while maintaining an under $150.00 price point.
