Hey guys I want to factory reset my dell inspiron 1545 laptop and I don't know what files to backup. Is there an easy way to figure out the files I need to put on a disc and could I keep windows 7 so I don't need to use the factory Vista? Never backed anything up so any tips would be appreciated :)

if u have external drive try to use window backup module to backup your entire windows on to that drive.
Or u can just copy your user files for saving all your desktop items, my documents, game profiles,, all program settings saved in Application data.
Just copy 'C:\Users\Your username'. and save it.
This would be sufficient. If u have 2 drives and want to format that too create backup just by copying to another drive.

If I helped u please rate up Thank u.

pictures of your baby that you can't ever replace, all your tax documents from the past 10 years, ummm, whatever you think is important. if your music collection isn't important, than don't back it up. if it is, then back it up. if you don't care about pictures of your babies birth or your wedding, then don't back them up.

It's a personal choice on what's important to you. if nothing is, don't back it up.
