Does anyone know how to wire a 8-pin to 6+2pin

I'm braiding my cables and for a cleaner look I would like to have a single 8 to 6+2 and a 6 pin (For a 290x) I've bradided the 6 pin and it works fine, but I can't seem to get the 8 to 6+2 to work, my screens don't turn on (the cards fan does spin however)

Solution
Use this pinout of the 8pin

And this pinout of the 6+2 pin

As you can see from the pinouts, they are essentially the same pin configuration, so you should be able to carefully cut the connector so that pins 4 and 8 are separated (this is the +2 part) the remaining 6 pins are the 6 part.

You probably just kinked the wire and broke it somewhere. Get some 22 or 24 Gauge insulated wire and try replacing any damaged sections.
