I am using CPUID HWmonitor which I was recommended to check my temperatures and my AMD FX-8350 is staying at a decent 50 degrees while ingame. While playing certain games (used to be CS:GO but that was a bios update problem) my pc will shut down unexpectedly. Currently it has only been once yesterday while I was playing TERA Online. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

What is your Power supply? Have you overclocked anything?

Sounds like a power supply. The FX-8350 is a pretty power hungry chip, and it sounds like your CPU temperature is just fine.

What wattage is your PSU and what video card do you have in your build?

Good luck!

Well I'm not sure if this has much to do with anything but I do not have an aftermarket fan installed. I am going tomorrow to get a new CPU fan and thermal paste. As for PSU and GPU:

GPU: AMD Radeon 7970 Ghz Edition

PSU: AX860i 860watts

P.S Also no overclocks.

It seems like you are just fine on the power supply front. I would see what happens when you get the new CPU fan and paste, then update us. If you are still using the stock cooler and your computer is dusty and hot, the CPU may be overheating.

Well I just cleaned my pc out just 2 weeks ago, but yeah, I guess I'll see after I install the new stuff. Now that I look at it, I launched up TERA and my temp went to 65 around there. So it might be, thank you! Will keep updating.

Update: it just happened agsin yesterday while playing csgo. My temps were around 85 degrees celcius. Is this a tempnwhere it would shut off? My friends i7 4770k was at 100 degrees celcius and his pc isnt doing it. I guess before I get a new fan ill do a malware bytes test. Also how will I check if the paste is on right?

Well I haven't got my new CPU fan yet but I think I've figured something out. My fan has to run at 3500rpm average on idle to keep my CPU temp at 40. What I'm guessing is that my CPU fan can't speed up enough to compensate for my CPU temp so it shuts the PC off. So my conclusion is that a new fan would fix this. I'm not 100% sure so I'm asking here first.
