I have WD 1TB HDD 7200RPM that is starting to fail as it is noisy and cracking. I bought a 2TB WD Green HDD 5400RPM.

I have used Acronis TrueImage provided on the WD website.
Both time is seems to clone the HDD correctly. Restarting the pc after the old HDD is removed works fine. Even after powering down from windows and waiting 30 seconds and switching off the PSU it still boots up. However when I try to boot it up the night after I does not load windows.
I get stuck at the Starting Windows Screen and it does not go further and I hear no activity from the hdd.
I have cloned it twice and both present the same problem.
CHKDSK and SFC show no issues.
BCDEDIT works but I do not know what to change if anything.
I think it has something to do with the BCD or an internal clock maybe but Im not sure anymore.

After each time I cloned the HDD, I check the windows genuine logo to see if it has disappeared and is still showing it is genuine. Please note this is on the cloned hdd which I still have access to but a cold boot the next day seems to stop it from working.

I have checked/changed the boot order to reflect the changes as remove the old HDD and replacing it with the new one.

Please I just want help trying to figure out what is messing up the cloning process.
So if anyone has advice on what to change or what program is fail/foolproof I would appreciate it greatly. I would prefer direct cloning to making an image as I have heard if you make an image you need to try and reactivate windows genuine.

Any ideas/programs are welcome. I just need to clone it asap and I cant go through another failed cloning without knowing what I did wrong.

Thank you for the reply trekzone.
I think I may have tried that but I forgot to add it in the comments.
I will however run both programs again as I cannot remember correctly.
Should I just let them scan and report back or scan+repair then report back?

Are there any other recommendations for where I might find the problem(s)?

Thanks again for the help.

I ran sfc and chkdsk both came back with no faults or errors found on the old hdd(currently using).
For some reason good fortune has skipped me.
I want to format the new hdd so I can clone once more. However I cannot loading into windows if the new hdd is connected. I have tried gparted on usb boot multiple times with multiple versions and multiple usb boot installers and it does not boot it just shows and error message.

I have moved around the boot priorities and orders to see if that has an effect but sadly it still does not boot into windows.
I have tried installing damn small linux on usb but again it does not want to boot past its loading screen/selection menu as it says it cannot find the filesystem.

DBAN seems to load but i dont know how long it will take to erase the data as i do not have 10 hours to wait for it to finish.
I dont care about the security aspect i just want it to be quick so I can concentrate on the cloning.
The old hdd has 731GB free of 931GB. I have used the wipe freespace utility on ccleaner.

Would you recommend I use DBAN and use the quick wipe/erase method?
Is there another program that i can boot into from usb and format the drive?

I wont DBAN or the other programs tonight as it is already a bit late.
I have a feeling it might be the BCD that I just need to repair or replace but to get to that point is still a lot of work.

Sorry for all the questions but my troubles keep multiplying and I am a bit frustrated at the moment.
