I have a GA-970a-ud3 rev1.1, I am aware that the CPU is supported however I am not sure if I need to do anything to get the FX-8320 to function. Currently have a Phenom II x4 695

Do I need to update my bios?
How do I know what version I have currently?
Am I able to just take the old one out and slot in the new one and be good to go? Im sure its not that easy.

Just wondering, I have several ideas for updating my computer, trying to weigh all my options and see what all is involved.

Solution
BIOS updating is pretty easy. I just use a flash drive, download the new BIOS, put it on the drive, plug it in, and go into the BIOS and click "update BIOS". Done.

Eh...I have F4. I really don't wanna screw around with updating my bios. Not sure how. I can go intel for the same prices, just instead of an r9 290, itll be a gtx 770. Not a big deal. Thanks for your reply.

Hmm...well, I looked up some videos about it and it really doesn't seem as hard as it sounds. Probably can do it easily. Gonna flash it before buying anything just in case something does happen. No wasting money. Thanks again. Big help.
