First PC build...GPU won't fit into PCI-E slot??

Hey everyone,

So I started building my first PC tonight. I got completed most of the wiring and installed everything in the case, with the exception of my GPU (R9 270). Problem is, the GPU will not fit into the PCI-E slot on my Asrock H97 Pro4 motherboard. It seems as though PCI slot is off by about 1mm.

Here is a picture so you can see what I mean... http://imgur.com/YxISqy6

Kind of hard to see, hopefully you can make it out. I can't seem to push the GPU back any closer to the case to make it fit into the slot. Seems to me like something isn't aligned properly, either on the motherboard or GPU.

Would greatly appreciated some help! Pretty bummed out about this since the build was going pretty good up until this point.

...Thanks!

**I also posted this in the motherboards section of the forum...the components section might be more suitable.**

In the picture, the GPU needs to go a little the right. Is that not possible because the GPU is pushed hard up against the case?

It's worth trying to losen (not undo, just losen) the screws that hold the motherboard in place. That way you should get some movement in the motherboard and you may be able to shift the motherboard a little to the "left" (as you look at the picture) which would give you the space you need. Then just tighten everything up again.

The case is a Corsair 200r. I tried installing the motherboard with the GPU attached, but that didn't work. There was just no room to move the card over any further as it was already up against the case. It seems like the only way to make it fit would be to cut a piece of the case out, which I'm not going to do.

I just took everything out of the case (besides the PSU and drives) and put everything back in the box. Going to have to contact Newegg or Asrock, and hopefully get a different motherboard.

Bad luck for a first build!!! smh

I tried installing it without the motherboard being screwed into the standoffs, but that still didn't work.

Any more force and the graphics card would have come bursting through the side of the case. I simply could not move the GPU over any further to make it fit.
