New CPU Now or Wait?

Here's my current CPU and GPU:

AMD FX-6100 Zambezi 3.3GHz Socket AM3+ 95W
SAPPHIRE DUAL-X R9 280X 3GB GDDR5 OC

My MOBO is the M5A88-V EVO.

I added the CPU-Z and GPU-Z image, just so you can see the exact revisions.

Should I get a new CPU now or wait? I want performance on par with at least an i5.

This current setup is what I recently upgraded to (for free), coming from an outdated AM3 board and crappy C2 stepping Phenom II X4, so I'm wondering if AMD is going to come out with a new CPU that's significantly better for gaming by the end of the year or if I should just jump on a new CPU now (if yes, what CPU?).

Thanks!

Solution
No, it would not be worth it. Just wait to overhaul your System. Esp since you don't want to upgrade your motherboard. Just save your money and go intel when you have the money. :)

Hi,

Just curious- why do you recommend a new mobo? Others have told me this one overclocks well and it can at least support the latest FX processors.

I didn't have to pay for this mobo & CPU. The whole point is that I want to get as much usability out of it as possible and replace the CPU with something better. It's either this, or back to my AM3 mobo/Phenom II X4 955 rev. 2.

If I were to get a new mobo, I'd get one for an Intel processor.

Like I said, I'm not getting a new mobo. The whole idea is that I want to max out the potential of this mobo with a better CPU. When it comes time to build a new system, I'll (without a doubt) go with an Intel build.

Yeah.. I figured the differences would be negligible. I'll just be happy with what I have.

I thought my mobo can support the 6300... why can't it?
