Ok I am installing a ssd. I am debating whether to clean install or clone.

I have down loaded the easeus frree software in prep.

I was going to clean install but was worried about the win 7 product key. I purchased my pc from company called palicomp 5 years ago and came with win 7 oem. I have the disk and product key. But I have heard some stories that there are issues when re installing and the product key not working.

Also the issue of added all the drivers again.

So I thought I would clone and downloaded said program. In the guidelines of Easeus they say if you have a portioned hdd then used partition clone if not use clone disk. I did not think I did but on checking there is a bit with system reserve 100 mb. So I am now unsure which to do is the system res a partition?

thanks in advance

If you can successfully clone your existing installation, there will be no need to reinstall anything, and no need for Windows activation.

If you do a fresh installation, you will need to update your drivers and reinstall your programs. Although drivers are available on the mobo's CD, they are prolly old and out of date. It is best to download the latest drivers from the mobo manufacturer's website BEFORE YOU START THE INSTALLATION and save them to a CD/DVD or USB flash drive.

Yes, the SRP (System Reserved Partition) is most definitely a partition and a copy of it will be required for a successful cloning operation.
