Hi I have turned my apartment and cellar upside down looking for a COM mobo connector

I have USB and Firewire brackets for the mobo but no COM ones. Can I rewire
the kaboodle? Noticed that a pin is in a
different corner too.
Need to connect good ole Fax Modem.

Solution
There a re 2 types of COM cables: http://www.logicsupply.com/components/cables/storage-i-o-cables/db9-idc10dtk/ http://www.logicsupply.com/components/cables/storage-i-o-cables/com-2-0-atev/ Which one does your motherboard require?

Ok so the primary goal isn't the faxes, it's more about voice capacity, actually, I am sorry
I didn't say so in the first place but most fax modems do voice anyway. Well:
The thing is I have built an interface to hook up my old analog telephone device to
the sound card in one of my computers, the point being that the phone converts RJ11 to RJ9
(which of course isn't official standard) but by disassembling the handset I got mic and spkr
lines I could hook into my PC and into my DECT base station over RJ11 cable.

Ok... so... again.... the point being I want to connect to Skype over my fibre thus not paying a cent extra
and that through my DECT base station hooked to a ditto headset.... Phew...

So I have a few options: 1) Figure out how to connect soundcard *directly* to DECT base station,
2) Figure out why the fixed line phone doesn't communicate with the DECT or 3) Try to go through tons
of AT commands and connect my fax/voice modem to the... DECT.

So, I would like to get a hint on getting my voice modem to do that and in order to do that,
I would like to convert a USB connector to fit COM. Today. For free. I'm sorry for being so obstinate.
I truly am.

The base station just has a RJ11 2pin connector for them red and green wires.
And boasts a linkup led. That's about it.
I am using this method: Skype->Sound card->RJ9 connector on old phone->RJ11 connector on old phone to
base station.

I have used a 12V 650mA trafo with a 350 ohm resistor on one wire and switched green and red wires to mimic a PSTN over the modified RJ11. As per a guide at http://www.wikihow.com/Make-an-Intercom-Using-Telephone-Cable

But if I can hook up my voice modem instead I can get around whatever is causing the problem,
because I really think it'd work? Sure both parties hear both parties at the same time....? But anyhow.

Update: Let me clarify, the oldphone<->soundcard does work. The DECT gladly opens a connection
to it. I have confirmed via USB soundcard by eavesdropping on what the phone is doing and I can
hear the test music I am playing. *sigh*

Update 2: I think there is a mismatch in standards here. The cordless definitely works, I made a
call just now to my cell. Via my landline. I think the base is way too old, you see, I checked up
a bit on things and nowadays it seems 4 pin connection is what the old phone wants, the
black and yellow wires that is. Is there any way to bypass that, aren't those just for handing
calls over to the next phone in a chain?

I am Basically a better programmer than electrician (pun intended).
My brother explained to me that even if you have *separate soundcards*
you cannot expect anything else than they have common G-R-O-U-N-D !!!!!!!!
I don't feel too embarrassed since I can freely admit I barely know how to solder a resistor to a wire :D
