My computer screen stays idle after turning on the computer

My computer jammed while watching a video with a video player (windows media player). So I restarted my computer and now the monitor is idle (black screen, orange light) but my computer is still working. My memory on my computer must be running low since there is not a lot of space left so I'm wondering if that has to do anything with that. What can I do to get my computer screen working again?

When you restart your computer do you hear any beeps now? Typically having little space left on your system drive won't stop you from booting. Also bare in mind, for ease of communication, we tend to refer to your storage as a hard disk, hard drive, storage, disk drive, etc, but we tend to mean RAM when we say memory.
