AMD catalyst say more than series?

I think it only displays the actual number if its the manufacture used amds reference design. if it doesn't then the bios is different and therefore amds software only knows the series instead of the exact model number. chance are if you go under your device manager you see the exact same words and #. is there a reason that you need to see the exact model number as it doesn't really effect the function anything.
