I have a WD Elements 3 TB external hard drive that is now full. I use this ext HD for weekly backup of my desktop, and for storing my photography. It currently has 2.22 TB tied-up in the data file backups. Is it safe to delete the oldest 3-month period of backups? That would free up 1.23 TB alone! And it would leave the backups that have been done since 2/23/2014. I am worried that deleting these older backups may cause issues, but will it? Wont the more recent backups contain all of the data I need should I have a system failure? Thank you for any help with this question!

Solution
If you are worried then leave one back up from a few months prior. I delete old back-ups once they get to be 3 months old. You can find almost all old drivers and updates on the internet anyways.
