Hi Guyss,
Hoping somebody can help me put with the problem I'm having.

When I press the power button on my Dell Studio 1558 it will turn on, can tell because the keyboard lights up and by the sound of the fan, it will stay on for 1-2 seconds and then turn off. Pressing the power button again it will again turn on, it stays turned on but won't boot, instead it will beep twice loudly, then will go quiet before beeping twice again.

Googling this I found the dell beep codes, two beeps means it can't detect the RAM, after reading this I removed the RAM. There are two 2GB sticks in the laptop, and I have tried running the computer with just one stick in, I've tried both sticks in both slots but I get the same result.

This is with battery and power lead, just battery and just the power lead.

I'm left thinking that either both sticks of RAM are dead, or something on the motherboard has gone. Unfortunately right now I don't have access to any other RAM while I'm at Uni so can't check it with independent RAM.

Anybody have any ideas because I'm stumped?

All help is very much appreciated, thanks!
