So I'm running a 4770k on the MSI-G45 motherboard, but I have no idea how to overclock it. I tried changing some settings, but nothing changed, and the processor is still running at stock 3.5 GHz. How do I actually overclock it?
Also, I've seen some people's desktops and they have a little speedometer, it looks like, which I'm guessing is the CPU speed? Or usage? I'm not sure exactly, but if anyone knows what I'm talking about, could you tell me what it is/does and if it's useful?
One last question: Is there also a way to monitor CPU temps without having to check the BIOS? (or check the BIOS without restarting the computer?) Thanks in advance!

Solution
Easiest way to start is simply raise the CPU multiplier to 40, that OCs you to 4 GHz and generally doesn't take anything further, then can try the OC software that comes with the mobo - or better yet find a OC guide on the net for your mobo/CPU and work slowly through it - repeat slowly - take your time and keep track of the settings you use
