WD My Passport Not Working

I bought WD My Passport from Amazon India 8 months ago. It was working well and fine but suddenly it stopped working.

When I connect it, it shows "Local Disk D:" but I cannot open it or format it. If I do anything, the computer freezes and hangs. I tried running "WD Diagnostics Tool DLG" but even it doesn't work while the passport is connected. I have tried connecting it to my brother's laptop and still the same problem. Everything freezes. No software works with it being connected.

I have never ever taken the drive out with me (not even out of my room). I never allow anyone to use it and I have never dropped aur mishandled it. I always safely remove it and never plug it out directly.

Please help me, what should I do??

Just about the only thing you can try is remove the actual drive from the WD enclosure and buy a third-party enclosure for it.
But you may find the drive has a proprietary connector on it, in which case that won't be possible.

However, only 8 months old it should still be covered by manufacturer's warranty so contact WD first to see if they will exchange it. Contact them before you try removing the drive because they certainly won't exchange it if they can see that the enclosure has been opened.

Yeah it's 8 months old and I registered it on WD site the day I bought it. I checked it and it says "Under Warranty, 822 Days Left".

I have a valid Serial no. and my drive looks like it has been purchased yesterday. Everything is crystal clear on the back of the drive and nothing has been erased, not even the tag on the USB connector.

Now what should I do?
