I Have a HEAT/FAN Related Question

So I have my FX-8350 and it heats up a lot. The temperatures in my house are rising since it is getting warmer in my city. On idle my CPU is at 40 degrees Celsius with the fan spinning at an average of 3500rpm. I have experienced 2 shutdowns which I'm guessing are from heat. Is my fan not being able to go to a high enough speed to cool my CPU which is at usually 85 degrees Celcius at load. Would buying a 212 Evo fix this problem?

If you are using a stock cooler from amd to cool your 8350 definitely go for an after market cooler. Also your fan does not play a role in heat alone your heatsink also makes a big difference.

I was just looking at my Event Viewer and I have multiple criticals under Kernel Power ID 41 (63) but those are restarts my is just my PC shutting off so I think it isn't a problem on power supply since I am told my AX860i is really good.

Edit: Honestly not sure what those errors are from? I think it is the times I force my pc off?

It's from the heat...grab the hyper 212. 85c is dangerously high.

Yeah that's what I was going to get today, but I'm too sick to concentrate putting it on >_<

That heat can damage your cpu. I would recommend changing your heatsink before doing anything cpu intensive.

I refrained from doing anything intensive since the shutdown until I buy and install the fan.

Will update this thread when I buy and install the cooler tomorrow :)

make sure you have some thermal paste, not sure if the 212 comes with any.

The 212 comes with some but it is not that great.

I was looking to buy some MX-4 paste to go with it.

MX-4 is good, I switched to it from AS5 and no regrets. It's very easy to spread and lowered my load temps by 3-4C over AS5.

MX-4 is great or you can also consider AS5, Noctua NT-H1, and IC Diamond is also really good but on the more pricey side.

Yeah my local PC shop (MemoryExpress) is selling it for a solid 7.99 CAD :D

Just installed the new fan :D  I got the Noctua Paste and my CPU is running 25 degrees less on idle. Also the fan is only spinning at 1000rpm (but that's probably because of how large). I also am so happy my PC doesn't sound like a vacuum. :)

Happy to hear it worked. Enjoy your pc :) . By new fan you mean 212 evo right?

Yeah, I have it facing the grate on the top of my case since it seemed stupid to face it another way.
