is it normal for the phenom ii x4 955 BE heatsink fan to be loud.i can even hear it in daytime..

i didnt overclock it, dont even know how to..

bought a new board, gigabyte 970a ds3p, just got this processor from a friend, said that he's done
on computers. he said that it's a great processor. in speed fan, my "CORE", idle 40 degrees, is it normal.. under load use, 57degrees...

when i was using my old pc (biostar n68s3b, athlon ii x2 250) 40 degrees is my under load temp...

There should be plenty of videos if you go on youtube.

As for the cooler, you need the paste or else it will be loud or not even work(more likely)
The 955 cooler, same as 965 which I own, was very loud even with paste applied, I would strongly recommend something like the 212 EVO if you do or dont OC. (I recommend OCing as much as you can, Phenom II is a strong contender when OCed)
The 955 is a high end CPU meant to be overclocked. The stock heatsink/fan like most stock heatsink/fans sucks. it works but it will be loud .

However since you got it second hand, did you clean off the old TIM and reinstall it with new TIM? or did you just put it in as is? if you did not reapply the thermal paste like you should have you will have issues

i didnt put any thermal paste. i didnt think of that, just now. hahaha.. also, im scared putting thermal paste. i dont know how to. been researching about that. and they have different suggestions/opinions about it.. can you give me some link about re-applying thermal paste the RIGHT way? sorry for the english. and

Dot in the middle, about the size of a BB, let the heatsink squish it down.

This way, there are no air bubbles.

Tests have confirmed that this will make your CPU run cooler than other methods, like spreading it, or applying a ton of it.

Remember, less is more when it comes to thermal paste.
