Hooking up Graphics card to monitor

Hi, I am new to pc gaming and I am building my first gaming pc. I have chosen a EVGA GeForce GTX 770 DUAL SuperClocked 4GB for my graphics card but I am using an older monitor that doesn't support HDMI. Could I use an HDMI- DVI converter to connect my graphics card to monitor or would that not work?
Thanks.

  1. If you have dvi use that but if your monitor has vga you'll need this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814998101

The card should have DVI so just use DVI to DVI.
If the monitor is VGA you should be able to use DVI-I to VGA but I suggest just buying a new monitor
  3. The monitor has both dvi and vga. Thanks for the help guys!
