Could it be the hhd is a slower 5400 rpm drive, and myabe your last one was a faster drive?
I could have a i7 32gb ram discrete graphics and just overall beast laptop with a 5400rpm drive, compared to i3 with 4gb with a 7200 or ssd, the i3 would be faster
