I have a dell inspiron 530 than my mom gave me. And I wasn't sure if I should get the 1gb or 2gb, Based on the fact that the 2gb wouldn't work on the ps. I know a pci 16 has up to 77w of power and the ti only uses 65, But everyone says it needs 20a. But on the site it said it only needed 18a. I only have a C2D E4500 and a hard drive plugged in. Also, If I added a q6600, Would that hurt the situation?

The comp is from 2008, but it was barely used, She bought it and it just sat in her bedroom. She always buys things, thinking shes going to use them and never does. I only got it about a month ago.

How old is this psu and how long has it been used for?

18 amps is really pushing it, but I'd say that it will be okay. It's gonna be a close one, though.

I have a Dell 240w PSU with 17.0 Amps on a single 12v rail with 4gb ram, a DVDRW drive and a normal HDD alongside an i5-2400.
It runs fine. I have an SFF case so it gets sort of hot but have a look at my thread and see what you think.
Oh, and if price is not an issue, go with the 2gb - in most modern games you will need it and it CAN use it (in my experience anyway).
Good luck.
