Can't Copy Files From a Failing Hard Drive

So out of the blue, my D drive has started failing. I can still see and access everything, but for some reason one thing I can't seem to do is copy files. Fortunately, there isn't much that isn't either backed up elsewhere or otherwise easily replaceable, but there are a handful of files that I need to transfer over to my C drive before I replace it.

Attempting to copy the files manually doesn't work (it simply stays at 0%), and I've tried using other tools like Unstoppable Copier to similar results. Trying to image the disk hasn't worked either. Any suggestions?

- Windows 8.1
- Western Digital Caviar 500AAKS (the failing drive)
- AMD Phenom II X4 3.5GHz
- Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3 1600MHz

Couldn't be, my C drive actually has the most open space of any of my drives. Well whatever the cause, copying them to my E drive seems to be working (albeit very slowly). It's not very efficient, but I think I'll be able to get those files. Thanks for trying to help!
