Help me Overclock i5-4670K?

My specs are
i5-4670k
Hyper 212 Evo
GA-Z97X Gaming 7
8Gb ram
1tb
Asus gtx770

I tried overclocking to 4.5 ghz but whenever I started up windows, my video card kept crashing and It was a black screen.

Is it overclocked right now still?

Does the pc work or is it still black screening?

What makes you think the video card is doing it?

You might have to reset the bios to get rid of the overclock.

Hopefully that'll fix your black screen problem.

Then start again - if you're still hopeful.

Then try again. Don't worry. pc's are on one hand fragile but also robust in so far as they have built in protection.

set voltage to around 1.2, then increase by [0.01V] until it runs how it should.

yes, go for 4.5Ghz and core V @ 1.205, that should work like a charm.

Are those temps load or idle?

You need to test what you've got first on Prime 95 for an hour at least. If it gets over 75C (Case temp) then I'd back it off.

up the voltage a bit more. Take it to 1.235V.

yes, your CPU may be wanting more. That Voltage won't damage your CPU.

Those temps are quite good, nothing to worry about yet.

Leave it running Prime for at least an hour before saying its stable.

That's not too bad. I'd probably up the cpu fan rpm by a couple of hundred rpm though. At 65C I'd expect at least 2000 rpm
