I recently purchased an Asus M5a97 r2.0 and a fx-6300. I want to overclock the cpu a bit but several people told me not to overclock with the mobo I have. So I was wondering if i could oc the fx-6300 a little bit without any negative effects? Thank you in advance.

that board is good for a 970 board overclock, though I do not recommend anything too high, I tend to avoid it as it can cause damage to your system (fry VRM heatsink, VRU and VRU heatsink). Since you mentioned 'little bit', I would be keen to help do a small OC, nothing over 4.5Ghz to be on the safe side.

Good advice. And 4.5ghz on a 6-core cpu will be nice and fast too.
