Good laptop for normal usage

Hi!

I'm looking for a laptop for my dad - it'll be used for normal usage (web surfing, excel, word, etc) and it needs to last atleast 4 years.

The screen needs to be 17.3"

I was looking at this laptop, but I was wondering if the 1.6GHz CPU was a little weak? I see max is 2.6 - but would that cause it to heat up very fast? What you think?

budget? 17 inch, 1080p? - more than $700. Whats 'the 1.6GHz cpu'? i3, i5 ?

Try a Lenovo instead. Better rep.

I'm buying from a Norwegian store, but a converted budget would be about 1k$. Screen res isn't that important. It's an i5 CPU

SLI GPU is totally unnecessary though, would never get used as integrated would do the trick

I was trying to get as good laptop for under $1000US

Integrated would be very basic. Best is AMD, not Intel.

But isn't there a laptop that would focus more on speed rather than graphics - i mean the money in those GPUs would go out the window. I've used integrated on my computer - and it works perfectly fine - but i got an i7-4770k tho

i7 4770k doesn't have integrated graphics. I bet you'd have at least a GTX760. The GTX755m would work half as well as that. 2 of them - nearly as well.

Sorry, but you're wrong there - it has Intel HD Graphics 4600. It's a custom built computer. I've put in a MSI Radeon R9 280x - but I know 100% sure it has integrated. I used it before I got my GPU. See for yourself: http://ark.intel.com/products/75123
