Are 1155 sockets old school or still viable?

I haven't been doing my research with computers for a couple of years ever since I built my desktop so I am a bit outdated, I just recently upgraded my graphics card but I feel I can upgrade my CPU as well so I'm considering it but probably not a motherboard, just a CPU.

current specs:
Intel Core i5-3570k @ 3.80 GHZ
Corsair Vengeance 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 1600Mhz
Sapphire Radeon R9 290
Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H
Crucial 128GB M4 SSD
WD 500GB 7200RPM HDD
Coolermaster 650W GX PSU
CM Storm Enforcer Case
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro rev 2

So with my 1155 sockets motherboard, are there any decent CPUs I can upgrade to? that is actually worth upgrading for? or should I just wait it out and upgrade my motherboard and CPU together?

thanks

Solution
Your current specs are still good I would wait till devils canyon chips come out and upgrade both of them. There is not much performance difference between lga 1155 and 1150.

I really don't know, I feel my PC isn't working at its best, playing league of legends and having a live stream at the same time has heavy load on the CPU, so I just assumed it was outdated and might require me to update it.
