Hi,
I've had my pc since Okt 2012. Im happy with it, but it keeps killing off my graphics cards for some reason. Had it checked at a pc store, they found nothing wrong but said it might be the PSU, but it wasn't likely.
So far Its killed 2 cards( GeForce GTX 460) and now its started beeping cos of overheating on my newest card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST.
I'm playing Elder scrolls online on medium settings...and my gpu is showing a standart of 80-83 celcius any higher its starts beeping and i quickly shut my pc off.
I really want a better card, but there isnt much reason in spending money on one if its also overheats and dies.
Any "newer" cards that is SURE to not overheat? So i dont have to worrry about it anymore or does some component in my pc simple have a flaud that means my graphicscard gets killed?

Regards
Charlotte.

Hello... a simple test will be to take a cover off your PC and see if the temperatures drop... If they do you have a case that will need a fan added to get cooler air into it.

What power supply do you have?

A 750ti is sure not to overheat and is a good upgrade compared to your 650 boost

I got a Seasonic 850 watt, i believe it, is or 800 watts. Can't rememeber :p
I've tried running the game with my case open and checking if all the fans ran /if dust blocked something etc. But it does the same thing, straight to 80 degrees on settings it should be able to easily handle and the fan sounds like it's playing some intensive game.
I guess there is no "easy" solution, I'm just in a bit meh. Before i got this comp. i have never tried a graphiccard dying on me before, and this one seem to be getting credit for killing 3 soonish.
Anyways Thanks for answering :)  I think ill try buying another graphicscard and cross my fingers :p

Are your cards overclocked? What program do you use to measure the temperatures? What's the cards temperatures on idle? I feel this is not your cards fault but something else, and i wouldn't bet on the case ether. Also what brand is your current card and what brand your previous one? And what brand is your PSU?

The more info you provide about your pc the better it will be.

I have never overclocked anything cos i simply don't know how to :p
I just found my order-thing from when i bought it.
PSU is 750 watts Seasonic.
2 prior - now dead - graphic cards was: Nvidia GF GTX 480 1536 MB DDR5
I have had two diffferent cases : First was a unicorn silent miditower ( 2 cards died in that one) now i got a Lian-li, which i bought cos of the fans/airflow in hoping to keep everything cooled.
MB: gigabyte GA-X558A-UD3R

I use furmark and speedfan to monitor the graphiccard and its 36 -40 degrees on idle.
These are the temps with the game running 1080*1024. Everything on medium and shadow/waterreflecion/AA off.

How did the 2 previous cards died? Were you playing a game or running any graphic intense program? Have you measured your temperatures in other games except ESO?

They died over time(months), throwing "driver has stopped working" in my face and doing random BSOD before finally just going puff. I dont know what killed them tbh. I had a computersrepairguy (dont know the english word) put all my components into a new case and run tests, they didnt find anything.
I tried running Rift, seems to have the same issue. Only games i have played is Rift/World of Warcraft and Elder scrolls online.
I think i give up and just end up buying a new pc or letting this card die and make them send me a new, like the previous 2 :p
Thanks for the help! :)

Did you add thermal paste? It's necessary to add it on your graphics card. My previous computer had that problem where after 30 minutes it would overheat on good games...

It seems that the problem is the card, probably it can't handle games like these. If the one you are using now die as well, I suggest getting an asus with direct cu ii cooling system or a gigabyte with windforce cooling system. I am using the asus one and I can guarantee your temperatures will never go high again, I even overclocked mine a lot and the temperatures are still low.

get an
ASUS Direct CU card, and dont trust speed fan too much.

it told me i had my cpu at 120 degrees celcius.

try gpu-z

also, open your case, see the difference (if there is any)

Agree with asus Direct CU system, its awesome cooling. IF you see high temps like before with a card like that, then its something wrong with your psu.

Did you use the psu cable included? I fried my gpu cuz i didnt use the original cable and card started to overheat.. Buy some new fans for your card, or get a water block
