Will overclocking shorten my CPU life?

I have an i5 3570k overclocked to 4.3 Ghz, but I have a negative voltage offset. I also have watercooling, keeping temps during gaming at 55-60. Since this is similar to stock temp with the stock cooler, am I actually shortening its life?

I think it's just more of a grey area (leaning towards illegal) that is sometimes discussed over in the Mac section of the forums. It is technically against the rules that you sign when you are installing the OS, but you are also using software that you bought yourself on hardware you bought yourself, and for your own personal use. If I remember right I've seen a fair number of hackintosh threads over there that werent really moderated much. But maybe someone higher in the forum ranks could clarify things

No you're not. U might want t check t actual voltage, or Vcore, being put through your CPU under load, but those temps indicate all is fine.

It would b consistent use of too high a Vcore that would shorten the life of your processor.

Ok, thanks. I'm using this processor in my gaming rig, but I'm thinking about building a hackintosh in a few months with the same processor. I'll probably use my current processor in the hackintosh build and use the new one in my gaming rig.

Maybe.
Your question is hard to answer. You seem to be asking "would 4.3GHz with negative voltage offset be worse or better than 3.8GHz with default voltage?"

Both an increase in voltage AND an increase in frequency have a negative affect on a CPU, however a small overclock with a voltage DECREASE is hard to say.

Regardless, I wouldn't worry too much since statistically you'd likely get well over FIVE YEARS out of it. Your motherboard is likely going to die first.

BTW, a Hackintosh is technically illegal. I hate to be the jerk that points out that we don't discuss illegal activities here.
