Hi everyone!

It's my first time building a computer, and even owning a desktop (owned MacBooks my whole life), so I figured I should run my plan by some people who know what they're talking about. :)

I've pasted my pcpartpicker price list below. If someone has a moment to tell me if I've done anything stupid, I'd really appreciate it haha!

A couple questions:
1. I've picked a water cooler here. It's my first time building so I'm very paranoid about frying my parts, and from what I've read liquid cooling systems are better (I'm lucky enough to have the money to spare). Should I get a fan/heatsink system instead? Are there pros/cons between the two?
1a. I should get a couple more case fans right? (it comes with 3)
2. Does anybody know anything about this motherboard? I wanted to go with a Z97 for more compatibility if I upgrade my CPU in the next few years, but they're fairly new and didn't have many reviews on the sites I looked at.
3. Will everything fit in my case? (How would one usually figure this out, measuring the specs? :p)
4. I know the power supply is overkill. I wanted to get one that will allow me to expand my system in the future, such as picking up a second GPU, without also having to change the PSU. Is this too much / should I tone it back down to a 7/850?

Thanks in advance for taking a look at this. I really appreciate it!!

**CPU** | I'm going to wait the couple weeks it'll take for the 4790k to come out as opposed to getting the 4770k. Is patience the right choice here?

Solution
If I had that much money to spend I would personally wait for the 4790k.

1. This would offer much greater cooling capacity: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/noctua-cpu-cooler-nhd14
On a side note: These RAM sticks would be cheaper and are sure to fit with the CPU cooler:

1a. More fans = more noise. 3 fans should be enough.

2. Gigabyte makes some great boards so you can't go wrong with that motherboard.

3. http://www.nzxt.com/product/detail/34-phantom#
CPU Cooler 170mm
VGA card 350mm
Cable Management 23mm

So pretty much any cooler and any GPU will fit in that case. (Height of the cooler I suggested: 160mm)

4. Get a 1000W PSU if you feel like it. Even 850W is enough...

Your set up looks pretty good, just a thought about your H90. A 12cm or 14cm AIO is comparable to BIG air in performance, you save the weight and bulk of a hunk of metal hanging from your MB. But to really take advantage of watering a CPU you need to go up to a 24cm or 28cm radiator for the frontal area, then you beat the best air and allows better OCing.

In addition, you should not get that GPU unless you plan on doing custom loop water cooling; The reference PCB allows fitting water cooling blocks, but the cooler is not that great. This is what I'd recommend: http://pcpartpicker.com/part/evga-video-card-03gp43788kr

The nice thing about that case is that the drive bays on the bottom are turned so they face the sides of the computer. You won't have to worry about the cables from the drives being in the way of a long video card.

I had my response all typed up to say get a bigger SSD or an accompanying HDD and then saw the edit.

It doesn't look like the 4790K will be coming out very soon. If it does though, it's probably worth the wait and the extra $60ish. Better to do it right the first time than to have to justify the cost of upgrading later.

I read somewhere that June 2nd is the predicted date. Is that wrong??

Thanks so much for all the responses guys! Really helpful!

I'm not sure about the exact date, but it should be released within a month if I remember correctly.

No problem, have fun building :)
