Hi!
I have looked all over the internet trying to find solutions but to no good. I got a new computer in February with a SSD drive 128GB with Windows 8 (64-bit) installed on it. But I needed more space for all my files so I decided to move my old hardrive(500GB) from my old computer to my new one. On my old computer I had Windows 7(64-bit) installed on the drive that I now have in my new computer. And since I don't need Windows 7 anymore I want to remove it. But how do I do it, do I just remove the file or do I have to do something else to get it removed?

In short: I got: 128GB SSD With Windows 8 on it + Old HDD 500GB with Windows 7 installed(Windows 7 not in use)

I want: 128GB with Windows 8 + Old HDD 500GB WITHOUT Windows 7

Hi

None of the programs installed in \program files or \program files (x86) of old drive will work as they rely on files in old \windows and registry in old \windows folders

You need to right click on old \windows and take ownership of the files before deleting them preferably with out putting them in recycle bin

You may want to read FAQ or example on taking ownership of files before doing it

Hi

Answer depends on if you want to keep some of files on second ( old hard disk)
Or you want all the space and don't care about the data

If old 500GB drive is one partition or two you have to be sure you can distinguish them from new SSD drive
Format will clear them but not let you clear boot drive c:

Clearing out \windows , \program files , \ program data, \program files (x86)
can be done but at first windows & windows explorer will object you do not have permission to do so

How old is old 500GB drive & computer?
if more than about 2 years I would suggest buying a new 1 or 2 TB drive and either keeping old PC as a spare or selling it or donating it to charity or if really old scrapping it

Your data is worth more than a small saving in re using a old drive

go to my computer and click on the drive.go to the windows folder and delete it.there are one or two other folders like windows nt in program files that you could delete as well.unless space is an issue tho you shouldnt have any problems keeping the windows files.

The HDD 500GB is 2 years old, but it is CURRENTLY installed and working on my new computer, all I want to do is remove windows. I got a bunch of other files on it like steam and all my programs. I just want to remove Windows, nothing else.
