Nope it is a hardware feature. In most cases a machine that doesn't already have a 1g card likely can not run move over 100m anyway. There are all kinds of other bottlenecks in machines. There is no easy way to add cards to laptops other than maybe a docking station.
It likely will make no difference. It is close to impossible for a single machine to be able to use 100m over the internet because of delays and such. Only something like bit torrent can use 100m and the vast majority of that traffic is not exactly legal.
For normal things like video, games or web surfing you will be very lucky of you even use 10m. Even a family using multiple devices seldom exceeds 50m.
Unless you buy a new laptop I would be content with the 100m it is much more than most people can get.
