Hello ladies and gentlemen,

I have a weird issue with the mentioned card. The fan does not seem to spin at low RPM (and I mean at all). It then automatically turns it on full blast if and when it hits about 84C (I imagine it's a safety trigger), but off again as soon as it cools down a bit.

Also, manually setting speed does nothing unless I set it to at least 80% (and even then, lowering to less than 70% makes it stop).

The card is new (less than 3 months since installation) and I've had this issue with the 2 latest versions of ATI drivers and the latest beta version in Windows 7, 8 and Linux Fedora 20 (KDE).

I honestly do not know if it did this from the beginning or not.

And yes, auto-fan-speed with things like trixx and afterburn do the exact same thing.

I really want to know if I'm doing something wrong or if I need to send the card in..

Other hardware related content:
Motherboard MSI Z87-G43
CPU: Intel i5 4670K
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 1866
PSU: Seasonic S12II-620 Bronze
....

PS: On the upside.. with the fan turned off it idles at about 55C, which is nice cooling i guess..

PPS: I only realised I posted this in the Systems forum, I apologize

Hi. I have the same problem. When I bought my Sapphire Radeon HD 7790 it worked fine. The fan starts spin on 1.0 rpm with the start of the system Win7 x64. Then I migrated to Win8.1 x64 and the fan continue to operate normally for half a year. It was a month ago I notice that the fan start spins on very high level 3.5-4.0 rpm. and temp of the VC is 75-80c. Some times completely stop working under 45c. Did you find answer for your problem? I tried with different drivers even with the original from dvd provided from seller. I completely remove all AMD and ATI drivers as is specified hire in Tom's and nothing same problem appears again and again.

Hi there!

I know this comes 3 years after you asked, but I did what the solution recommended: phoned up and got a different card through RMA (well, I sent it in service, they couldn't get it fixed so I got a different one :)
